Welcome everyone to our first blog down under!

Over the course of the new few weeks until we set off and then periodically during the row, we want to share our adventure with you all and today an update on our experiences in Australia to date.

So where are we?

We are currently in Geraldton and have been in Aus for roughly 10 days having initially done some sightseeing in Perth, where we landed from London.

Our ocean rowing boat, Hope, arrived a few days ago in Geraldton and we’re now spending some time giving her a bit of TLC; ensuring that all our sponsors’ logos are on, fixing some wiring and packing her up – basically trying to work out here to put 100 days’ worth of food!

We’re both still getting to know her and it’s important that we do as we’ll spend the best part of three months on her…with no escape.

Away from the boat, the yacht club here at Geraldton are fantastic, helping us to unload the lorry when it arrived, sorting the boat and have lent us a lovely spot in the marina so that when we start our water training, there is enough space for us to get around the boat.

We’re aiming to set off on 14th March but this is weather dependant and so we need to make sure we’re ready in advance so any time around that date we can set off without too much delay and with confidence that Hope is ready to go.

We’ve had some media interest over here and we’ve got used to doing these interviews now – we’ve been on Channel 7 and Channel 9, plus we’ve done the odd radio station and local paper. Download our Channel 9 interview here: 0218 Docs Row.mp4

Just a quick mention to one our sponsors, Karma Group, who very kindly hosted us on Rottnest Island, we’re grateful for your support and glad to have you as part of our team.

Amazingly, we’ve raised £40,000 thus far and we would love to hit our half way target before we leave of £50,000. Thank you so much to all those who have donated so far and we’re incredibly grateful for everyone’s support. If you haven’t yet and you would like to support, head to: pledgit.net to make a donation.

Our next blog will be up next Friday, but in the meantime if you want to see more of our news head to our social media channels which can be found at the bottom of this page
